Why Glossier Is A Force To Be Reckon With

In the age of contouring and beating your face, glossier is a breath of fresh air.  Its minimalistic packaging and empowering slogans really make people buy it. Glossier seemingly came out of nowhere and is really picking up a storm in the beauty industry.

I'll fill you in some of the backgrounds of how Glossier came to be.

Glossier was created by Emily Weiss who has created her own beauty blog called "Into The Gloss." Her blog famously showed her readers what beauty products models, celebrities, and her staff had on their top shelf. Weiss wanted to create a perfect skincare and makeup brand for girls. She asked girls and women all over America what their perfect "cleaner" would entail or what their perfect "lip gloss" would consist of. Thus in 2014, Glossier was born.

Within a couple months of opening, every single product was sold out and upon restocking over 60,000 people were on their waitlist for more. Glossier really created something that hasn't been seen before.

Weiss started Glossier with $2 million and only in only one month, they've gained over $8.4 million in venture capital to grow their company. It grew over 600%(!!!) between 2015 to 2016 and is expected to grow even more in the coming years. Glossier is growing and it's growing FAST.

You see glossier everywhere. magazines, Instagram, blogs, the sides or buses, everywhere. It seems as though glossier has reached every single social media platform and every possible way to advertise it. They had a fantastic marketing team that managed to gain over hundreds of thousands of followers even without knowing what the products were and that is monumental. Generally, it was curiosity and word-of-mouth that catapulted glossier into what it is today.

What does this mean for the beauty industry?

The beauty industry has never seen a beauty startup that has achieved so much in such a short period of time and has many celebrities endorsing their products that makeup brands should be very scared.

Glossier is still selling their products on their website in the U.S, but there is some speculation that they will start selling internationally and maybe even start selling their products in Sephora or Ulta in the next year or so.

It's only a matter of time before Glossier really takes over the world and I'm so excited what they are coming up with next.
